HWKN designed the ANIMALation for, the largest underground party in New York City, held on the 21st of March, 2009. ANIMALation is an animated light feature that references from the iconography of a spider and is enhanced with projections, automated lights, and moveable legs. Rising 25’ above ground, ANIMALation hovers over a 12,000sf dance floor. The object is built out of standard lighting trusses, but configured in this fashion the familiar shapes become an eerie conglomeration that permutates throughout the 14 hours of dancing.
